Goodbye Blue Monday
Happy birthday, Mr. Vonnegut. Kurt Vonnegut, my favorite 83 year old man and second favorite curmudgeon, turns 83 today. If I had my way he’d have another happy, healthy 50 years ahead of him. Below is a quote from his book Sirens of Titan that I find amusing.
“Sometimes I think it is a great mistake to have matter that can think and feel. It complains so. By the same token, though, I suppose that boulders and mountains and moons could be accused of being a little too phlegmatic.”
It’s also Veteran’s Day. Mr. Vonnegut is a veteran of WWII, and in honor of that and his birthday, I thought I would again link to an essay that expresses his feelings on the war in Iraq. It’s called “Cold Turkey.”
