Venus Rising from the Sea

It’s not often sports journalists get to make the kind of puns generally reserved for the “tweed jacket with suede elbow patches set,”  but they’re intelligent people with degrees in English or Journalism, too (mostly). So when Venus Williams plays in the Italian Open their little hearts sing with delight.  This is their shining moment–the moment when sports and Classicism collide and they can unleash the puns.
